ShelterBox brought me on board to provide interim press and PR coverage for the UK arm of the charity. This included pitching feature ideas and profiling pieces to media outlets, dealing with media requests, up-dating the UK news website and Twitter account, some internal communications and media coverage monitoring. The charity was also undergoing significant changes in management, which were initially met with controversy. This resulted in a need for both reputation and crisis management.
ShelterBox provide emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by natural and man made disasters, at the time when they need it the most. In the 11 years since ShelterBox was founded, they have responded to almost 200 disasters in over 75 different countries and provided lifesaving aid for well over one million people. Their goal is to help 50,000 families every year.
